Jakarta – Indonesian Human Rights Watch (Imparsial) Director Ardi Manto Adiputra reported alleged acts of terror against him to the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police on Tuesday September 9. Adiputra said that his car was broken into and important document belonging to him had disappeared.

Adiputra admitted that he experienced acts of terror between December 2024 to September 2025. Most recently, his car was broken into by an unknown person in the Jatiasih area of Bekasi city, West Java, on Monday September 8.

"The latest was also the vandalism of my car and a number of comrades at Impartial, our other staff have also experienced being stalked, being stopped in the in the middle of the road over the last few years", Adiputra said at the Metro Jaya police on Tuesday evening.

Adiputra suspects that terrorist acts were carried out to weaken Impartial which had often criticised various issues, ranging from human rights to democracy. Nevertheless, Adiputra was reluctant to say who was behind the incidents.

"We consider this an attack on our work as defenders of human rights who voice issues related to democracy, deformation of the security sector, human rights", he said.

"We don't want to make accusations, but there is a pattern that is apparent, that can be read, when we've criticised events that occur lately, then attacks on comrades at Impartial, including me, as well as the office, and other comrades, they happen", he continued.

Regarding the burglary of his car, Adiputra said that no valuables were missing but documents related to Impartial's activities are missing, and are suspected to have been taken away by the alleged perpetrators.

"They were documents on activities that if they fall into the hands of a thief, it's of no use. But if it falls into the hands of people who do indeed have the intention to weaken our work, it might be useful", he said.

Adiputra's report was received by the police and designated the number LP/B/6318/IX/SPKT POLDA METRO JAYA dated September 9, 2025. He reported the incident based on Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and or Article 170 of the KUHP and or Article 406 of the KUHP.

Furthermore, Adiputra hopes that the police can investigate the report thoroughly, including finding the mastermind and motives behind the acts of terror.

"That is, what the motive is, who did this, whether this is a genuine crime, an ordinary criminal or are there other motives whose aim is to weaken the work of human rights defenders", he said. (dis/wiw)
