Adil Al Hasan, Jakarta – Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto claimed that Indonesia can maintain stable economic growth at 5 percent. The Central Statistics Agency recorded a 5.12 percent annual economic expansion in the second quarter of 2025.

Airlangga stated that this economic condition makes Indonesia a leading country in the Southeast Asia region. He said, "No other country consistently grows at 5 percent. ASEAN leaders always look to Indonesia. Indonesia becomes a reference," during an interview at his office in Jakarta on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Airlangga previously mentioned that Indonesia's economy is currently second only to China's, which grew by 5.2 percent. Meanwhile, ASEAN countries such as Malaysia and Singapore experienced growth of 4.50 percent and 4.30 percent, respectively. These figures are higher than those of the United States, which grew by only 2.00 percent.

He also denied allegations of manipulating economic growth data in response to doubts from various parties about the data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) regarding the 5.12 percent economic growth in the second quarter of 2025.

Additionally, Airlangga mentioned that Indonesia's investment realization amounted to Rp942.9 trillion in the first semester of 2025. According to Airlangga, this condition is also directly proportional to the low claimed level of economic growth and inflation.

Furthermore, Airlangga stated that Indonesia is currently exploring the possibility of joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). He mentioned that this forum could open up Indonesia's export access to Mexico, especially automotive products.

"Mexico provides a quota, and it's very small, only 70,000. Whereas our automotive exports could be more significant, exceeding 400,000. However, various countries are putting up barriers, and this is what we need to resolve," he stated.
