Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – Indonesia's anti-corruption watchdog has arrested East Kolaka Regent Abdul Azis in a sting operation (OTT) in Southeast Sulawesi, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed on Thursday.

"The team is still in Kolaka Timur," KPK Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak told reporters.

Abdul was taken into custody along with several others whose identities have yet to be disclosed. The arrested individuals will undergo preliminary questioning for up to 24 hours before the KPK determines their legal status, whether they will be named suspects or remain witnesses.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said a press conference would be held once the initial investigation is complete to detail the case, including evidence collected and the number of people detained.

"We'll announce the details later, including the evidence, the parties involved, and the nature of the case," Prasetyo told reporters separately at the KPK's headquarters in South Jakarta.
