Hanin Marwah, Jakarta – A total of 2,123 joint security personnel have been deployed to secure the Palestine solidarity rally at the South Monas Square area, Central Jakarta, this morning. The Chief of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, stated that the security measures would be conducted in a conducive manner, with all personnel not equipped with firearms.
"We, from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, along with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the police precincts in Central Jakarta, have prepared maximum security with a total of 2,123 joint personnel," said Susatyo in Jakarta on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
"All security personnel are not armed with firearms. This is our commitment to maintain a peaceful, calm, and conducive atmosphere during the event," he said.
As a precaution for the traffic flow, Susatyo urged road users to avoid the Monas area during the rally and to choose alternative routes. "Use other routes to avoid congestion. Let's keep Jakarta safe, orderly, and comfortable for everyone," said Police Chief Susatyo.
The security team also provided a number of parking spaces for the participants' vehicles. In addition, medical teams and ambulances have been stationed at several strategic locations to anticipate emergencies.
Based on observations in the field, thousands of rally participants began to fill the South Monas Square area since 06:30 AM. Participants ranging from children to the elderly were seen coming in droves wearing black and white clothing.
The majority of participants appeared to be carrying the Palestinian national flag and other attributes, such as scarves and banners, to show their support for the Palestinian people.
During this morning's agenda, several celebrities and state officials were also present, including the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Ustad Abdul Somad, and Irfan Hakim.
