Inge Klara Safitri, Jakarta – Tempo has received an award in the "Creative Format" category at the Global Fact-Checking Awards 2025 held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday, June 27th, 2025. The panel of five judges, consisting of journalists, fact-checkers, and academics, praised Tempo's newsgame titled "Anti Jebakan Batman" (Anti Batman's Trap) for successfully educating the public to recognize and avoid phishing, online scams aimed at stealing personal and financial data.

Tempo's editor-in-chief, Setri Yasra, stated that this award acknowledges Tempo's products, especially fact-checking content, from the global community. Setri said that Tempo has established fact-checking as a responsibility and a commitment of the media to combat the spread of misinformation and to enhance readers' literacy. Tempo is one of the three "Creative Format" finalists. The other two finalists are Ag ncia Lupa from Brazil and Newschecker from India. The Global Fact-Checking Awards 2025 is part of the GlobalFact event, a regular gathering of fact-checkers from various countries organized by The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) in cooperation with the Poynter Institute.

In a press statement, the judges described Tempo's newsgame as an innovative work that combines technology, data visualization, and a fresh format to communicate findings to the audience. "This is an award for the best work you have ever done," said IFCN Communication Manager Enock Nyariki.

The newsgame "Anti Jebakan Batman" invites players to identify messages that may appear when accessing the Internet and using their devices. With each answer choice, players will receive explanations about the characteristics of online scams and the characteristics of messages that potentially steal personal data.

Another feature developed in the newsgame is self-assessment based on users' digital behavior. Through a series of closed questions, users can determine the risk level of data leakage due to their behavior while browsing the digital world.
