Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government has announced a waiver of late payment penalties for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fees (BBNKB). This tax exemption policy is effective from Saturday, June 14, until Sunday, August 31, 2025.
These provisions are stipulated in the Decree of the Head of the Jakarta Provincial Revenue Agency Number e-0046 of 2025, concerning the Cancellation of Administrative Sanctions by Default for Motor Vehicle Taxes and Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fees. The decree was signed by Lusiana Herawati, Head of the Jakarta Revenue Agency.
Lusiana said that this tax exemption is part of the commemoration of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary on June 22 and Indonesia's 80th Anniversary on August 17. "In this special moment for the residents of Jakarta, the Regional Government aims to alleviate their burden through the cancellation of sanctions," she said in a written statement on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
According to her, the Jakarta government has waived two types of administrative sanctions for PKB and BBNKB: interest accrued from late payment of outstanding taxes and penalties arising from the late registration of motor vehicles.
Lusiana emphasized that residents do not need to apply for this policy. "It is automatically applied by the system when they make a payment," she explained.
The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes this tax exemption policy will encourage residents to fulfill their obligations. "We invite all motor vehicle owners who have not yet fulfilled their obligations to take advantage of this policy, as the waiver of sanctions will only be granted once," Lusiana urged.
To benefit from the Jakarta vehicle tax exemption program, residents need to prepare several documents: the original and a photocopy of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK), the original and a photocopy of the Vehicle Ownership Certificate (BPKB), the owner's original ID card (as listed on the STNK) along with a photocopy, a power of attorney if the payment process is handled by another party, and the amount of money corresponding to the 2025 vehicle tax bill.
Checking of motor vehicle tax penalties can be done online through the official Samsat PKB2 Jakarta website or via the JAKI public service application.
