Prabowo, Trump talk world peace in phone discussion

Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a phone call from United States President Donald Trump on Thursday night, June 12, 2025.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, both leaders inquired about each other's well-being and the latest developments in America and Indonesia.

During their conversation, which lasted almost 15 minutes, President Prabowo congratulated President Trump on his re-election as President of the U.S.

"Similarly, President Trump extended his congratulations to President-elect Prabowo Subianto on his election as the eighth president of Indonesia," said the Presidential Secretariat in an official statement on Friday, June 13, 2025.

They also agreed to further strengthen the cooperation between Indonesia and the U.S. while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining global peace and stability.

Prior to this, both leaders also exchanged messages through a phone call on November 11, 2024.

President Prabowo Subianto shared the moment he was talking on the phone with U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, June 13, 2025, through his personal Instagram account, @prabowo.

"Today I received a phone call from President of the United States Donald Trump," Prabowo wrote in his post on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Previously, Prabowo stated his intention to meet Trump to discuss the escalating trade war between the U.S. and China.

"I have requested a meeting, hopefully, yes," Prabowo said during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey on April 11, 2025, per the official statement on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
