Melynda Dwi Puspita, Jakarta – Thousands of job seekers crowded the Bekasi Pasti Kerja 2025 Job Fair, organized by the Bekasi District Manpower Office at President University's Jababeka Convention Centre, Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. A viral video on social media showed applicants jostling for space.

Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang said the overwhelming turnout is a moral responsibility for the local government. While the fair offered more than 2,000 job openings, over 25,000 job seekers showed up.

"This means that in the future, we must open the next job fair with a capacity of more than 2,000 job openings," Ade said in Jababeka on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, as quoted by Antara.

He added that the Bekasi Pasti Kerja 2025 Job Fair is part of the district's 100-day priority program focused on reducing unemployment.

"Even though it has not been a full 100 days of work, we have already taken concrete steps. One of them is through the implementation of a job fair today, as a commitment to open up job opportunities for the local community," Ade explained.

He emphasized that the manpower sector will remain a priority through collaboration with the industrial sector, aiming to lower unemployment in Bekasi District.

"With the large number of job seekers who came, it is clear that the need for job opportunities is very high. In the future, we will open the next wave of job fairs with a larger capacity," Ade said.

Ade also revealed plans to evaluate the job fair's execution for improvements and to urge business owners to increase their job quotas.

"In the future, we will schedule the event at different times or sessions to make the implementation better and smoother. We will also call on industrial area leaders to discuss the addition of job opening quotas from each company," the Bekasi Regent added.

Meanwhile, Bekasi Deputy Regent Asep Surya Atmaja said the government will continue door-to-door recruitment programs with companies to increase job opportunities for residents.

"We will continue the door-to-door program with a more structured approach. We want to ensure that the people of Bekasi District get priority in the workforce," Asep said.

Acting Head of the Bekasi District Manpower Office Nur Hidayah Setyowati said the job fair attracted strong interest from both companies and job seekers. She noted that 64 companies participated, conducting direct recruitment.

"This job fair offers 2,557 job openings from the 64 participating companies. The process is through direct recruitment, and some companies even conduct interviews on the spot," Nur said.

The Bekasi District Manpower Office expressed gratitude to all parties involved and hopes that such activities continue to help reduce unemployment and improve workforce quality in the district.

"Great hopes are expressed that similar activities can continue and become part of efforts to reduce unemployment rates and improve the quality of the workforce in Bekasi District," Nur said.
