M. Faiz Zaki, Jakarta – The Ministry of Indonesian Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has blocked the PeduliLindungi website, which was suspected of being hacked for online gambling content. The Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, stated that this action was taken following reports that the website had been used for online gambling promotion.
"This certainly violates the information security provisions of the national digital space," he said in a written statement on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Alexander claims that the PeduliLindungi website was infiltrated and used to display online gambling content. The website operation, which was previously used for health services, especially during the pandemic, violates information security principles. Komdigi has cut off access to the intended domain to prevent exposure to illegal content and data misuse.
The emergence of judol content on the PeduliLindungi website was widely discussed by netizens on social media, especially X, on Monday, May 19, 2025. The website promoted the game and an online gambling registration page. This finding sparked criticism from netizens, especially regarding user data security.
When Tempo checked again on May 20, the PeduliLindungi website no longer displayed content related to online gambling. The Head of the Ministry of Health's Public Communication and Information Bureau, Aji Muhawarman, said that the PeduliLindungi.id website has not been managed by the Ministry of Health since March 2023. In the same year, the government continued the functions of PeduliLindungi with another digital service called SatuSehat.
"All things related to the PeduliLindungi system have shifted to the SatuSehat system," said Aji when contacted by Tempo.
After being replaced by SatuSehat, the Telkom Indonesia Group now manages the PeduliLindungi website. However, Telkom management stated that they released management of the Pedulilindungi database in 2023, as the contract with the Ministry of Health expired.
"Telkom automatically released the ownership of the PeduliLindungi.id domain on March 28, 2024, to the domain registrar," said the Assistant Vice President of External Communications at Telkom, Sabri Rasyid, in a written statement yesterday.
