Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi gave a lukewarm response to a question about his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, allegation of private jet gratification.

"Every citizen is equal before the law, that's all," he said in a statement at GBK Stadium, Senayan, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Kaesang is still mum about the private jet he used with his wife, Erina Gudono, during their trip to the United States last August.

Erina shared the US trip on her Instagram Story. The pair went to the States as Erina planned to continue her Master's studies at the University of Pennsylvania at the Faculty of Social Policy and Practice (SP2).

Citizens questioned the origin of Kaesang and Erina's Gulfstream G650 private jet with flight number N588SE. The Coordinator for Indonesia's Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman, reported the PSI Chair to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) concerning the suspected gratification allegedly provided by Shopee boss, Gang Ye.

In the complaint dated Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the MAKI Coordinator attached an MoU between the Solo City Government and PT Shopee Internasional Indonesia signed by Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the then Solo Mayor. Gibran is Kaesang Pangarep's older brother.

Both Kaesang and PSI – the Indonesian Solidarity Party – have yet to release a statement on the alleged gratification thus far. Kaesang was briefly seen at the PSI Office on Wednesday evening, September 4. The president's son exited the party's office but did not respond to any questions thrown by reporters on the scene.

"Just ask him directly. I'm no longer in the (party's) structure," said Jokowi's Special Presidential Staff, Grace Natalie, when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on September 3. Grace previously held a position as PSI's Deputy Board of Supervisors.
