Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has called for president-elect Prabowo Subianto to safeguard the state budget while planning upcoming programs.
Sri Mulyani said that budget calculations for the president-elect's programs had already begun, with discussions and preparations for the state budget underway.
She said she had coordinated with Prabowo's team regarding the management of the 2025 state budget and that good management of the budget would provide an overview of the budgetary needs for Prabowo's programs.
She also said that continuous coordination with Prabowo's team is necessary to understand the budget requirements and implementation mechanisms for new programs.
"Regarding new programs, we will continue to coordinate with Prabowo's team," Sri Mulyani said on Thursday, as quoted by tempo.co.
She added that the 2025 state budget was being discussed within a deficit range of 2.21 percent to 2.80 percent.
The upcoming administration should be able to maintain fiscal prudence and sustainability while accommodating the programs that will be implemented in 2025, Sri Mulyani stressed.
Prabowo has set up a synchronization task force led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Ahmad Muzani as deputy chairman.
The Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka synchronization task force is responsible for creating internal reports for Prabowo and coordinating with the ministries ahead of the presidential transition.
The task force met with Sri Mulyani and Finance Ministry officials on May 31.
