Yohanes Maharso, Ricky Juliansyah, Jakarta – Jakarta Metro Police questioned PDI-P Perjuangan (PDIP) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto at 10:00 a.m. today, June 4. Hasto will be asked to provide explanations concerning his statement on national TV about elections fraud.
According to the police summons numbered B/13674/V/RES.1.24./2024/Ditreskrimum, Hasto Kristiyanto is being investigated on suspicion of criminal acts of incitement and/or dissemination of electronic information and/or electronic documents containing false information that caused public unrest.
The events allegedly took place in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building) and in Gambir, Central Jakarta on March 16, 2024 and March 19, 2024, as reported by Hendra and Bayu Setiawan to the Jakarta Metro Police Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT).
Hasto Kristiyanto confirmed that he would comply with Polda Metro Jaya's request to clarify his statement in an interview with SCTV, in which he spoke about alleged fraud in the 2024 election.
Hasto Kristiyanto said he was not surprised by the summons. Hasto suspected that the summons was an order from above because he was critical about the election, even though he did not mention any party's name.
However, he said he was "confused" as to why authorities were so quick to process public complaints about individuals who spoke out about fraud in the 2024 election, while other cases were ignored, some never resolved.
According to Hasto, what he said in the interview were facts based on academic studies and empirical findings in the field. Such as the intimidation of regional leaders and members of the press.
"The function of a party is to carry out political communication, including saying things that are not true," Hasto said.
