Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that several National Strategic Projects or PSNs in the transportation sector could not be completed in 2024, or at the end of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's term of office. Meaning, the projects will be completed during the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Prabowo-Gibran) government.
"There are six PSNs that will be completed after 2024," said Budi Karya at in Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Budi Karya said that the six projects could not be completed due to licensing constraints and land acquisition issues.
The six projects consist of the LRT Velodrome-Manggarai Segment, MRT Jakarta East-West, MRT North-South, East Kalimantan Logistics Railway Infrastructure, construction of the New Palembang Port, and construction of the Muaro Jambi Container Port.
From 2020 thus far, the Ministry of Transportation has completed 25 PSNs in the transportation sector. In detail, there were 7 transportation projects, 7 railway projects, and 11 ports.
This year, Budi Karya will complete four more projects, namely the development of Sorong Port, Benoa Port, the double-track railway in South Java, and the Lahat-Kertapati Logistics Train.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto previously targeted 41 National Strategic Projects to be completed this year. The total value of the project is Rp554 trillion. "The target must be completed in 2024," said Airlangga in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Cumulatively, 198 PSNs have been completed since 2016 with a total value of Rp1,614 trillion, involving a workforce of 2.71 million people. There are 44 projects and 3 programs still under construction.
