Riani Sanusi Putri , Jakarta – The chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), Shinta Kamdani, responded to the government's decision to keep the 2025 State Budget deficit below 3 percent. She said the preparation of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) Draft must be disciplined.
"We have all learned from the APBN experience. However, how we use it is very important," said Shinta when they met at a halal bi-halal event at the official residence of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, in Jakarta on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
She said budget discipline is the key. Even if you want to widen the deficit, Shinta said, the use must be clear and disciplined so that every decision produces a multiplier effect.
Moreover, preparing the Draft State Budget will affect the future government in this transition period. However, he believes that all relevant parties have considered all elements of next year's State Budget.
"That must be maintained because the economic programs go there, and we rely heavily on financing from the APBN," said Shinta Kamdani.
Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the government agreed to keep the 2025 state budget deficit below 3 percent. According to the former World Bank Managing Director, the focus of the 2025 fiscal policy is to accelerate economic growth, improve welfare, and progress between regions.
Sri Mulyani said that currently, the government is still sharpening various designs and postures for the 2025 State Budget, while maintaining a good political process.
