Alfida Rizky Febrianna, Semarang – A bus operated by leading land transport operator Rosalia Indah careened into a roadside ditch in Central Java on Thursday, killing at least seven people including two children.
The fatal crash took place at the 370th kilometer mark on the toll road connecting Batang and the provincial capital, Semarang.
Arivianto, a senior official from the Transportation Ministry, said an initial examination of the scene revealed no skid marks, indicating that the bus descended freely into the ditch. He further explained that following the overturn, the bus slid forward approximately 200 meters.
According to the company, the bus possessed a valid operational certificate until October 5. "This tragic incident resulted solely from human error," the official asserted.
The driver, Jalur Widodo, is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital for minor injuries, under police supervision.
Among the deceased is the bus conductor, identified as Sumarno, as confirmed by the Central Java Police.
This accident occurred just three days following another devastating incident in West Java, where a bus collided head-on with a minibus, resulting in the loss of 12 lives.
