Backed by TNI officials selling stolen cars to Timor Leste, Eko cs earns hundreds of millions in profit every month

Suara.com – Police said that hundreds of stolen motorbikes and cars stored at the Balkir Pusziad Warehouse, Sidoarjo, East Java were about to be sold to Timor Leste. The shipping process is carried out via Tanjung Perak Port.

Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Wira Satya Triputra said the two suspects, Eko Irianto and Maryanto, admitted that they usually sent stolen motorbikes and cars to Timor Leste every one to two months.

"It depends on how big the vehicle can accommodate," said Wira at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1/2024).

According to Wira, the selling price of the stolen motorbike was around IDR 15 million to IDR 20 million. Meanwhile, for cars it ranges from IDR 100 million to IDR 200 million.

"Every month the suspect makes a profit of around IDR 400 million," said Wira.

Involve three TNI members

In this case, three TNI members were also named as suspects because they were involved in helping Eko and Maryanto recover hundreds of stolen motorbikes and cars before they were sold to Timor Leste.

Puspomad Deputy Commander Major General Eka Wijaya Permana said the three suspects had the initials Major BP, Kopda AS, and Praka J. They were charged under Article 408 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 56 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 126 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 103 of the Criminal Code.

"There are three of our personnel who were involved in this case, namely Major BP, Kopda AS, and Praka J. We have detained them and are carrying out further investigations," said Eka.

Eka confirmed that his party would investigate whether or not other members were involved in this case. At the same time ensuring that every member involved will be given strict sanctions.

"We remain committed to whoever is at fault, we will process these three perpetrators in accordance with applicable law," he said.

Confiscate hundreds of vehicles

In this case, Polda Metro Jaya confiscated hundreds of vehicles as evidence in this case. The details include 214 motorbikes and 46 cars.

Hundreds of vehicles stolen and embezzled by naughty debtors are planned to be sold to Timor Leste. Suspects Eko and Maryanto admitted to having committed this crime since 2022.

To hold them accountable for their actions, Eko and Maryanto have been detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center.

They were charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code, Article 480 of the Criminal Code, Article 481 of the Criminal Code, Article 372 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 35 and Article 36 of Law Number 42 of 1999 concerning Fiduciary Guarantees.

"The maximum penalty is 7 years in prison," concluded Wira.
