Antara, Jakarta – The director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Atef al-Kahlout, on Thursday, Nov. 9, expressed his concern that the hospital could shut down completely on Friday, Nov. 10, because it has run out of fuel.

"Today, Thursday, November 9, 2023, there are only 1,100 liters of diesel fuel left for the Indonesian Hospital, and this is only enough for one day," al-Kahlout said in a video posted by the Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C Indonesia) on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday.

"The Indonesian Hospital will stop operating completely tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 10) if there is no diesel to power the generator as a source of electricity," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, a MER-C volunteer at the Indonesian Hospital, Fikri Rofiul Haq, said that the humanitarian aid could not reach the northern area of Gaza where the Indonesian Hospital is located.

"Several trucks were allowed to enter the Gaza Strip, but humanitarian aid from these trucks cannot be distributed evenly," Fikri said.

He added that humanitarian aid that passed through the Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza has yet to reach the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza."Meanwhile, the central Gaza Strip continue es to be bombarded [by Israel] to separate southern Gaza from northern Gaza," Fikri said.

According to Fikri, the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt had also been closed again, blocking the movement of residents and humanitarian aid.
