Ade Ridwan Yandwiputra, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi responded to the statement voiced by Deputy SOE Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo that the LRT Jabodebek's curved long-span bridge connecting Jalan Gatot Subroto and Kuningan is poorly designed.

The President stated that the LRT project is the first to be worked on in Indonesia, so it is normal for mistakes to be made. "This LRT is the first time we have been developing. So if it needs a correction, if there is something that needs to be evaluated, to be fixed, we will fix it," Jokowi said when testing LRT Jabodebek, Thursday, August 3, 2023.

People are asked not to look for deficiencies in the project and then slam it. "Don't look for flaws because there will definitely be mistakes since it's the first time," he remarked.

Jokowi also mentioned that all of the LRT construction used domestic products. "This is the production of INKA (state-owned train manufacturer). The construction is also done domestically. Everything is done by our people. So if there are deficiencies, we must understand, but we will fix them," he added.

The state head refuted the statement that the LRT project was carried out without proper planning. "Everything is planned. Everything is calculated. But on the field, sometimes there can be adjustments, I think it's normal," he said.

Previously, Deputy SOE Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo argued that the design of the LRT's curved long-span bridge made a sharp turn, causing the train's speed to slow down. If the bridge bend is widened, the train can continue running fast.

The LRT Jabodebek's long-span arch bridge spanning 148 meters from Gatot Subroto to Kuningan was built over the flyover of the Inner City Toll Road. It has a curved radius of 115 meters and uses concrete weighing 9,688.8 tons. Because of its length and precise design, the long-span bridge had been flooded with praise.
