Antara, Jakarta – Regency Government of Bekasi, West Java is planning to prepare public transportation to reach Jatimulya LRT Station after the LRT Jabodebek trial run yesterday.

"Regarding the public transportation to Jatimulya Station, we will discuss it and prepare it," said Bekasi Regent Official Dani Ramdan in Cikarang, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, as quoted from Antara.

Dani admitted that presently there is no public transportation provided to reach Jatimulya LRT Station from Tambun Selatan District. "So far, the residents use online taxibikes," he said.

Dani said that LRT Jabodebek will facilitate the mobility of the Bekasi Regency residents to Jakarta. He also hoped that with this LRT Jabodebek, private vehicle volumes on the road will decrease.

"We all know there are a lot of Bekasi Regency residents working in Jakarta. Hopefully, this will reduce traffic congestion," he said.

There are 18 LRT Jabodebek Stations across 4 areas, Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Bekasi. In Bekasi City, there are 4 stations, namely West Bekasi Station, Cikunir 1 Station, Cikunir 2 Station, and Jatibening Baru Station. Meanwhile, there is only one station in Bekasi Regency, Jatimulya Station.

The trial run for LRT Jabodebek started on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, until August 15, 2023, with an Rp1 fare, with limited passengers. The train is expected to operate commercially starting August 18, 2023.

Transportation Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati said the first phase of the trial run will be conducted in 2 phases, with first the first phase starting yesterday until July 26, 2023, for a limited number of invitees from the Ministry, journalists/media, and communities.

Meanwhile, the second phase will be commenced on July 27, 2023, until August 15, 2023, for people who have registered through an online registration provided by the LRT Jabodebek operator on July 10, 2023.

Adita said that the trial run is conducted to introduce and encourage people to experience the novelty of a trip using LRT Jabodebek. "Safety and security is our utmost priority before conducting the trial run," she said.
