BeritaSatu, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has just turned 62, and he got a surprise when visiting the Parung traditional market in Bogor on Wednesday morning.

Thousands of people – including locals and market vendors – sang "Happy Birthday" to Jokowi as soon as he stepped out of his car. The song lasted for around a minute.

The president is stopping by Parung Market and Prumpung Market on his Bogor trip.

Jokowi is also giving staple food aid as well as 800 cash assistance packages to the vendors during the visit. Each of the cash assistance is worth Rp 1.2 million ($80).

"We are grateful that the traders can get cash assistance for their families and business," acting Bogor regent Iwan Setiawan said.

Market vendor Agus added: "Praise be to God. I got to shake hands with Mister Jokowi and got cash assistance."

Jokowi also thanked the birthday wishes on social media.

"Thank you for the birthday wishes and prayers from all my brothers and sisters. I would like to thank God for granting us health and keeping us safe. Our age will be even more meaningful if we strive to bring progress to our beloved country," Jokowi tweeted.
