M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – During the commemoration of the International Labor Day, or also known as May Day, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, called for every stakeholder to improve the welfare of labor workers and expand job opportunities.

"Improve the welfare of laborers, protect their rights, and increase national productivity and competitiveness," said the President in a video broadcasted on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel on Monday, May 1, 2023.

The President also talked about improving the quality of human resources through the development of vocational education and suggested that individual capacity building can be carried out through pre-employment programs.

The government, said Jokowi, continues to try to elevate domestic and international investments in order to spark more employment opportunities, reduce the unemployment rate, and improve the welfare of workers in the country.

"I say it again, happy international labor day," said Jokowi.
