Dian Erika Nugraheny, Jakarta – A survey conducted by Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) in January 2023 noted that not all supporters of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will automatically vote for a presidential candidate (capres) suggested by him in the 2024 presidential elections (Pilpres).
Quoting from the findings of the survey in an article published by Kompas.id on Monday March 13, only 21.1 percent of respondents who voted for Widodo in the 2019 elections said they will definitely vote for the presidential candidate recommended by him.
Meanwhile, 38.4 percent of Widodo voters claimed that they would consider the presidential candidate recommended by him, but were of the view they needed to look at who the candidate was first.
Then, 23.7 percent of Widodo voters said they would not vote for a candidate recommended by Widodo. Meanwhile 16.8 percent of Widodo voters said that they did not know.
Among those who voted for Defense Minister and Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Chairperson Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 elections meanwhile, as many as 33.3 percent said they would consider a candidate recommended by Widodo, but it would depend on who the candidate was.
Then, as many as 45.5 percent of Prabowo voters said they would not vote for a candidate suggested by Widodo, while only 5.7 percent said they would vote for a candidate suggested by Widodo. Some 15.5 percent stated they did not know.
The survey was conducted by Litbang Kompas between January 25 and February 4 and involved 1.202 respondents who were selected using a multi-stage random sampling method from 38 provinces in Indonesia.
Using this method the survey had a 95 percent level of confidence with a 2.83 percent margin of error under the conditions of a simple random sample selection.
