Nur Janti, Jakarta – A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in one of the buildings at the Home Ministry in Central Jakarta. No one was reported either injured or killed in the incident.

The fire started at around 4:15 p.m., allegedly caused by the faulty outdoor unit of an air conditioner.

The Central Jakarta Fire Department dispatched eight fire trucks to the site of the blaze and extinguished the fire in 20 minutes.

Last week, a fire broke out of the fifth floor of the immigration building at the Law and Human Rights Ministry in South Jakarta.

The South Jakarta Fire Department said the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Human rights ministry spokesman Tubagus Erif Faturahman said the flames had burned through stationery, old items and old documents, stressing that no important files were destroyed in the fire.

Two years ago, a massive blaze broke out and razed most of the main building at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) on Jl. Sultan Hasanudin Dalam in South Jakarta. (dre)
