Antara, Jakarta – The Jakarta Health Agency announced that more neighborhood units (RT) are categorized as the COVID-19 red zone. As of August 7, 2022, the city's red zones increased to 28 RT.

The figure shows a significant hike in positive cases compared to that in mid-July which was only seven RT.

Based on the city's website corona.jakarta.go.id accessed today, most of the red zones are in North Jakarta and West Jakarta, each reaching 10 RT. Meanwhile, South Jakarta has four red zones, and Central Jakarta and East Jakarta have two red zones.

However, the number of red zones was considered small albeit the rising virus transmission because the city has 30,417 RT.

The authority recorded 2,300 new positive cases on Monday, August 8. The number of active cases, both patients being treated and isolate in 140 referral hospitals across the city, decreased to 424 cases.

Jakarta Health Agency noted that the COVID-19 positivity rate reached 15.3 percent over the past week. The figure, however, was attributable to the high number of people tested using PCR which reached 107,200, more than the WHO standard for Jakarta of 10,642 people.
