Riani Sanusi Putri, Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the government allocated Rp44.8 trillion from the State Budget (APBN) to suppress the stunting rate among children this year.

In an online press conference, Thursday, August 4, Sri said the budget for the stunting reduction program is quite huge because it involved 17 ministries and local governments.

The seventeen ministries, she underlined, should pay attention to the disclosure of information to the public by not only displaying data in the form of tables of budget amounts on their websites but also narratives about the programs.

In 2018, reports said 30.8 percent of children experience stunting. In 2021, the number declined to 24.4 percent. President Joko Widodo or Jokowi targeted the rate to plummet to 14 percent by 2024.

The Finance Ministry's Secretary General Heru Pambudi said the budget to suppress stunting is not a small number. So it was hoped to effectively address this complex problem.

"Thus, transparency is needed so that people can build trust and public support for the stunting program to be successful," said Heru in a press conference held virtually on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
