Muhammad Hendartyo, Jakarta – State power company PLN booked Rp25.13 trillion in revenue in January 2022, a 12.38 percent (yoy) increase. According to company official, the increase was triggered by higher sales as power consumption increased.

PLN's executive vice president of Corporate Communications and CSR, said Agung Murdifi. Electricity sales volume in January 2022 amounted to 22.45 Gigawatt hour (GWh), a 1.03 percent increase from the same period last year.

He added that the positive achievement was the result of PLN's innovation and efficiency measures.

"The increase in electricity sales is proof that the Indonesian economy is starting to recover after a sluggish state due to the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

PLN's programs, including discounts for additional electrical power and easiness in installing new connections, has also increased the number of the company's customers.

"The number of customers grew by 4.77 percent (yoy) to 82.8 million subscribers in January 2022," Agung said.

This customers' growth was supported by an increase in PLN's power generating capacity by 29 Megawatts (MW) in January 2022, an increase of 209.57 percent (yoy).
