Antara, Jakarta – Jakarta has reported a hospital bed occupancy rate of 60 percent across 140 Covid-19 referral hospitals used for patients isolation.
Jakarta Deputy Ahmad Riza Patria on Wednesday evening explained that the city has 5,111 beds available for coronavirus isolation and currently sees 3,072 filled. He explains that hospital beds for intensive treatments will also be increased.
"It is now 60 percent. We once reached a maximum capacity of 11,500 in 2021. We will maximize [hospital bed availability] in the future," said the deputy governor on February 2, Antaranews reported
There are currently 679 ICU beds available with 187 of them filled which constitute 28 percent bed occupation rate.
To suppress the spread of Covid-19 and Omicron transmission, Riza Patria warned the public to be more alert about the situation that saw significant increase of cases in recent days, including the Omicron variant. Latest data shows 2,792 people have been exposed to Omicron with 54 percent of the cases involving people who traveled overseas.
