Muhammad Hendartyo, Jakarta – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) revealed foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January-November 2021 reached 1.48 million. BPS Head Margo Yuwono said the figures plummeted by 61.82 percent year-on-year (yoy).
The number of foreign tourist arrivals from January-November 2021 comprised tourists visiting the country by air transport at 119.46 thousand. "By sea transport at 407.86 thousand, and land transport at 957.57 thousand visits," he said in a virtual press conference on Monday, January 3, 2022.
Foreign tourist arrivals in November 2021 reached 153.20 thousand, up by 6.04 percent yoy and 3.06 percent from a month earlier.
BPS also recorded foreign tourist arrivals in November 2021 consisted of those traveling by air at 19.91 thousand, rising by 23.77 percent yoy; by sea at 33.63 thousand, and by land at 99.66 thousand.
Increased foreign tourist visits were spotted at Husein Sastranegara Airport in West Java with 500 percent, followed by Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 200 percent, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten with 32.58 percent.
Sam Ratulangi Airport in North Sumatra, meanwhile, posted a decrease in foreign tourist arrivals of 46.04 percent. Other decreases by 100 percent were also recorded at Kualanamu Airport in North Sumatra, Juanda Airport in East Java, Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara, Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Riau, Hasanuddin Airport in South Sulawesi, and Badaruddin II Airport in South Sumatra.
