Hendartyo Hanggi, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Monday said Indonesia's vaccination rate within the past week had slightly increased, thanks to the vaccinations for children that saw an average of 1,219,453 doses administered daily.

The program, which targets children aged 6 to 11, adds to the overall national vaccination rate to 300,000 doses in the past four days.

"In total, there were 2,324,644 doses administered to children in that age group," he said in a written statement on December 27. "Meanwhile, regions outside of Java and Bali contributed 55.6 percent of the total daily national average vaccination rate."

The Christmas and New Year holidays are also used to evaluate policies that are intended to control and suppress the spread of COVID-19, especially regarding the public activity restriction policy (PPKM). Indonesia's active cases as of December 26 amounted to 4,655 cases or 0.11 percent of the total number of cases in the country.

This remains below the global average of 8.60 percent. Compared to the peak moment of the COVID-19 spike on July 24 this year, it is a 99.19 percent drop. Active cases in Java-Bali amount to 52.3 percent while outside regions logged 47.6 percent.
