Fairuz Amanda Putri, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is amazed at the economic recovery measures in Indonesia.

Luhut met with IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva as well as other officials in the United States to discuss a number of issues, including increasing global health security.

Luhut said that Kristalina Georgieva gave a special appreciation to Indonesia for its economic recovery measures through the strengthening of MSMEs.

"Hopefully we can continue to encourage MSMEs reinforcement as the national economy's backbone, so that Indonesia's economy continues to move forward even in difficult times like now," Luhut said on his Instagram post.

He also met the US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan to discuss improving national security, as well as strategic communication between the Indonesian and American governments.

"I told Mr. Sullivan, if America wants to help Indonesia concretely, then American companies can cooperate in investing and producing therapeutic Covid drugs in Indonesia, which is already in the final 'clinical trial' phase. We all know that this drug can be the key to handling the pandemic. We don't want to be just a buyer," Luhut wrote in his Instagram account on Thursday, October 21.

Luhut also met John Kerry, the Special Climate Envoy of President Joe Biden, and they discussed a cooperation in reducing greenhouse gas, as well as accelerating and transitioning to renewable energy.
