Egi Adyatama, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said many jobs will no longer be needed and exist in the future, creating a drastic change in labor market. It is, moreover, driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Of course, this requires a change in the study program [of universities], a change in the curricula and characters of lecturers," said the President in his welcoming speech at the Anniversary of Sebelas Maret University (UNS) event on Friday, March 12.

He said the industrial revolution 4.0 has made various old theories and technology obsolete. Many theories of management, organizations, and even business models have changed drastically, in line with the rapid dynamic of communication patterns and people's behavior.

"Thus, research agendas must surely make changes. UNS with its long experience for 45 years is being challenged to transform," he added.

Jokowi further appealed to all academic communities to be creative and innovative in developing science and technology as solutions to current challenges. He also called on all talents to provide solutions to the challenges of humanity and the nation's progress.
