Budiarti Utami Putri, Koran Tempo, Jakarta – Presidential Chief of Staff spokesperson Juri Ardiantoro said that the government has given the green light for the House of Representatives (DPR) to propose a revision for the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (ITE Law) as he said the law is a product of the government and DPR.

"So if there are attempts for a revision, the DPR can have the initiatives," said Juri as cited from Koran Tempo in Thursday, February 18 edition.

As a follow up, he said the government is currently creating interpretations for the law's provisions. Juri also claimed that President Jokowi had ordered the police to be more selective in receiving reports filed under the ITE Law.

The Presidential Chief of Staff spokesperson said police have responded to President Jokowi's orders through a number of policies in implementing the ITE Law signalling towards 'improved justice' guidelines for cases related to the law.

Echoing Juri, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate said the government supports law enforcers to establish an official 'ITE Law interpretation guideline', claiming that the guidelines will establish a clearer distinction in the law's interpretation.
