Jakarta – Thirty medical and non-medical staff working for community health centers (Puskesmas) in Bogor city, West Java, have tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the local administration to temporarily shut down six Puskesmas in the city.

The six health centers – Mekarwangi, Cipaku, North Bogor, Gang Aut, West Sindang and Semplak – will be closed for three days and disinfected thoroughly.

The Bogor administration previously conducted massive swab tests involving 974 medical and non-medical staff working in 25 Puskesmas and the city's health laboratory.

"From the tests, 30 staff were announced positive with COVID-19, 19 of them were residents in the city and 11 were residents from other cities," Bogor Health Agency head Sri Nowo Retno said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com

All health services at Puskesmas Mekarwangi will be temporarily transferred to Puskesmas Kedung Badak, while health services at the Cipaku and North Bogor centers will be transferred to South Bogor and Tegal Gundil respectively.

Services at Sindang Barat will temporarily be referred to Pasir Mulya and services in Semplak will be referred to Gang Kelor.

In addition, all staff working for the six health centers will be retested.

"The services will reopen on Aug. 15, but limited only to doctor's visits, emergencies and hospital referrals," Sri said, promising that all healthcare centers would be gradually disinfected. (trn)
