COVID-19 mapping update: Low-risk zones starting to grow

Ricky Mohammad Nugraha, Jakarta – COVID-19 task force member, Dewi Nur Aisyah on Thursday announced that Indonesia's COVID-19 risk zone mapping by the end of May showed positive progress.

"There is a positive trend from conditions in regencies and cities," said Dewi in a Youtube press conference on June 25.

By the end of May, she said, 108 regencies and cities were categorized as high-risk zones (red zones); 166 medium risk (orange zones). At the time, there was 46.70 percent categorized as yellow zones or low-risk zones and unaffected zones or green zones.

As of June 7, yellow and green zones had dropped 44.36 percent. At the time there were 65 red zones with 221 orange zones.

On June 14, yellow and green zones reached 52.53 percent. Red zones had been reduced to 51 areas and 193 orange zones. As per June 21, green and yellow zones had increased to 58.37 percent.

As of now, there are 57 red zones and 157 orange zones.

According to Dewi, up until June 21, there were 308 regencies and cities outside of the green zones that did not report deaths due to COVID-19. "This means that there are 196 regencies and cities that may soon become green zones."
