M Yusuf Manurung, Jakarta – The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency reported on Sunday that 162,416 workers from a number of companies in the capital city were subjected to coronavirus layoffs and unpaid leaves.

"The number of people laid-off and received unpaid leave come from 18,045 companies," said the head of the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency, Andri Yansyah to Tempo on Sunday.

The agency reports that up to April 4, 132,279 people were subject to unpaid leave from 14,697 companies while 30,137 people were laid off by 3,348 companies.

Andri said that workers who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic reported their situation via bit.ly/pendataanpekerjaterdampakcovid19 and via email to disnakertrans@jakarta.co.id up to the deadline of April 4, 2020.

Following the widespread effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Jakarta Administration through the Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency has issued a policy that effectively accelerates the pre-work assistance program that provides workers with work skills training and other incentives to help workers through the hard times.
