Heru Andriyanto, Jakarta – State-run oil company Pertamina reduced prices of gasoline and diesel fuels by between 6 percent and nearly 13 percent, effective on Sunday.
The price cuts are implemented across the country but prices may vary depending on fuel taxes in the respective district, Pertamina spokesman Fajriyah Usman said in a statement on Saturday. Fuel prices in Java and Bali are normally cheaper than in other islands.
"The price adjustment is based on the existing government regulations," Fajriyah said without elaborating.
The price of popular gasoline product Pertamax was cut by 6.6 percent to Rp 9,200 per liter, while that of Pertamax Turbo – which has higher octane numbers – was reduced by 11.61 percent to Rp 9,900.
The company's top diesel fuel brand Pertamina Dex saw the biggest discount from Rp 11,700 to Rp 10,200 per liter, or 12.82 percent. The more common diesel fuel product, Dexlite, is now sold at Rp 9,500 per liter from Rp 10,200.
Pertamina keeps the price of its lowest gasoline product, Pertalite, at Rp 7,650 per liter.
Prices of subsidized fuel products, the so-called Premium gasoline and Solar diesel fuel, will remain unchanged at Rp 6,450 and Rp 5,150 per liter, respectively. Prices for both products are regulated directly by the government as their production requires state funding.
