Antara, Jakarta – Bogor Regent Ade Yasin has issued a circular calling for his residents to not celebrate New Year's Eve with fireworks and trumpets, which he said, in order to maintain public order.

"In supporting [the regency's civilized motto] Karsa Bogor Berkeadaban and to maintain public order," said the regent in the written circular on Thursday, December 26.

One of his calls specifically bans the use of fireworks, trumpets, and public vehicular convoys, which are considered as acts of exaggerated New Year's celebration. He also deemed the activities violate legal and religious norms.

The circular was spread among organizations across the Bogor District addressed at regional leaders, mass-organizational leaders, public figures, and the general public.

As the alternatives, the Regent's circular called for his residents to use the New Year's Eve momentum to improve their religious worship, sympathize with those that are less fortunate, and increase social awareness and care for fellow Bogor residents.
