Nindya Astuti and Andita Rahma, Jakarta – House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission II legislator from Gerindra faction, Sodik Mudjahid said that the rights of the LGBT community should be fulfilled, even though he says that the community's behavior goes against Indonesia's five-state ideologies or Pancasila.

According to Sodik, the LGBT community should also practice their duties as an Indonesian citizen. "The LGBT community must adhere to the law and respect the values championed by the state, which is nonetheless Pancasila," says Sodik in Jakarta today, Nov. 27.

His statement is a response to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) that bars the LGBT community from applying for Indonesia's civil servant enrollment test (CPNS) this year. The institution listed "not having sexual orientation disorder" as the requirement.

"LGBT will be viewed from the perspective of the law in the form of Ministry's Decree, Government's Decree, up to the country's National Constitution and Pancasila," said Sodik in terms of the AGO's rejection.

Previously reported, the AGO's spokesperson Mukri said his office wants those who apply to be "normal, non-deviate" people. "We do not want anyone with uncommon behaviors, so that during training and briefings no one will behave like, you know," said Mukri Thursday, November 21.
