Jakarta – The Bogor regency administration has taken measures for the possibility of crop failures during this year's dry season.

"Drought in Bogor regency has already happened in several subdistricts," said Bogor Regent Ade Yasin on Sunday as reported by Antara News Agency.

According to her, most droughts happened in the east of Bogor regency, such as in Jonggol, Cariu and Sukamakmur subdistricts. The regency administration had distributed water from nearby rivers with water tanks to irrigate the dry fields.

Ade was sure that the dry season would not result in crop failures because the paddy fields were still producing crops.

Head of Bogor regency Crops, Horticulture and Plantation Agency Siti Nurianti said that handling drought in the eastern part of Bogor regency would be difficult.

"Water aid is difficult to provide because the nearest water source is located 2 kilometers away," she said.

However, Siti said that the dry season would not interfere with the production of Bogor's top rice type, the Carita Makmur.

"Production is still sufficient since we still have rice suppliers from other subdistricts such as Sukamakmur, Tanjungsari and Dramaga," she added. (eyc)
