Annisa Febiola, Jakarta – A bus carrying members of the United Pati Community Alliance (AMPB) to Jakarta was pelted with bricks by two unidentified people on Monday, August 24, 2026, while traveling on a toll road.

The white bus was carrying around 17 residents from Pati Regency, Central Java, who were traveling to Jakarta ahead of a planned demonstration outside the House of Representatives (DPR) complex on Thursday, August 27.

Vander, a member of the AMPB advocacy team, said the incident occurred between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. local time. He said two people wearing hoodies and face coverings were standing on a bridge and threw bricks at the bus as it passed underneath.

"There were two unidentified people wearing hoodies and face coverings or masks who threw bricks at us, disrupting our journey," Vander said when met outside the DPR complex.

Bus windows damaged, passengers injured

The attack damaged the front windows of the bus, while shards of glass struck several passengers and caused minor injuries.

"There were about two or three people with minor injuries. This certainly worried our friends because the incident was quite intimidating," Vander said.

The passengers used tape to temporarily seal the damaged window so they could continue their journey to Jakarta.

Vander said the group did not abandon its plans despite the incident.

AMPB to continue planned demonstration

The AMPB members continued their journey to Jakarta after repairing the damaged window and arrived in the area of the DPR complex.

Vander said the incident had not weakened the group's determination to voice its demands.

According to him, the AMPB will proceed with its planned demonstration on August 27.

"We will continue with the demonstration as planned," he said.
