Arnoldus Kristianus, Jakarta – Indonesia's outstanding government debt rose 12.65% year-on-year to Rp 10,293.69 trillion ($576 billion) as of June 30, the Finance Ministry reported on Wednesday.
The debt was equivalent to 41.26% of gross domestic product (GDP), remaining below the statutory ceiling of 60%.
The government debt stood at Rp 9,138.05 trillion at the end of the first half of 2025.
According to data from the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Budget Financing and Risk Management, government securities accounted for the bulk of the debt at Rp 8,966.79 trillion, or 87.11% of the total.
The remaining Rp 1,326.9 trillion was in government loans.
Of the total debt stock, Rp 477.4 trillion was raised through new debt financing during the first half of 2026, equivalent to 57.4% of the Rp 832.2 trillion in debt financing targeted under this year's state budget.
