Support from various circles

Since the morning before the trial began, a crowd of online motorcycle taxi (ojek) drivers started to liven up the Corruption Court. Based on Tempo's observation at the location, from 08.55 AM, dozens of ojek drivers wearing black and green uniforms with the Gojek logo flocked to Nadiem's verdict trial.

They filled the court's lobby and sat watching the trial through the court's provided screen. Before entering the trial, Nadiem also greeted the online motorcycle taxi drivers. He also signed the jackets of the ojek drivers.

In addition, several public figures were seen attending and watching the trial's proceedings through the court's provided screen. Some artists and influencers, including Jovial da Lopez, Mira Lesmana, Happy Salma, Riri Riza, Christine Hakim, and several others, were present at the trial.

Also present at Nadiem's verdict trial were family members and relatives who were all dressed in white.

Supportive response as the judge reads the verdict

Supporters were disappointed after the Chief Judge Purwanto S. Abdullah read Nadiem Makarim's verdict. Nadiem was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case of the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM).

Heavy sighs were heard from Nadiem's supporters and family members who were watching the trial through the court's provided screen. Some shouted, "Free Nadiem!" and "The verdict is unjust!"

The online motorcycle taxi drivers who were present were heard booing the chief judge's decision, and some of Nadiem's relatives were seen shedding tears of sadness.

The supporters' reactions continued as the prosecutor gave a statement in a press conference following the end of Nadiem's verdict trial. They booed the prosecutor and shouted expressions of frustration.

Singing Indonesia Raya after the verdict trial

After the verdict trial ended, Nadiem Makarim and his supporters sang the national anthem Indonesia Raya by W.R. Supratman in the courtyard of the Central Jakarta Corruption Court.

Surrounded by a crowd of online motorcycle taxi drivers and relatives, Nadiem was seen raising his hands while singing the national anthem. The strains of Indonesia Raya echoed in the Corruption Court. Nadiem was also seen crying while singing the anthem.

Nadiem Makarim cries after the verdict trial

Nadiem Makarim was seen shedding tears after giving a response to the panel of judges' decision. Nadiem was accompanied by his legal team, supporters, and his wife. In his statement, Nadiem hoped that the people of Indonesia would support him.

"I will continue to fight for my children, for my family, for the country of Indonesia that I still love. I will fight for the truth, for the young generation, for professionals, for all honest people who have experienced criminalization," Nadiem said.
