Eka Yudha Saputra, Jakarta – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operation of 764 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs) for the free nutritious meal (MBG) program across Indonesia, as of March 25, 2026. This is part of the 1,528 SPPGs nationwide that have had their operations suspended since January 2025.

Deputy Head of BGN for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, said the number of shut-down SPPGs is reduced compared to a couple of weeks prior, since some have resumed operations after making improvements.

"Because they have applied for the Hygiene Sanitation Eligibility Certificate (SLHS)," Nanik said in a written statement on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Therefore, the total number of free meal kitchens still under suspension across Indonesia is 764, with a breakdown of Region I (Sumatra) having 215 SPPGs, Region II (Java) with 491 SPPGs, and Region III (Central and Eastern Indonesia) with 58 SPPGs.

Out of the total 764, a total of 72 SPPGs have been suspended due to notable incidents such as food poisoning or digestive issues. The breakdown of SPPGs temporarily suspended due to poisoning cases is as follows: Region I 17 SPPGs, Region II 27 SPPGs, and Region III 28 SPPGs.

Meanwhile, the number of SPPGs suspended for violating technical guidelines amounted to 692 units. The breakdown is as follows: Region I with 198 SPPGs, Region II with 464 SPPGs, and Region III with 30 SPPGs.

According to Nanik, two weeks ago, the number of affected free nutritious meal kitchens was higher, especially in Java, with more than 1,500 units. In addition, the eastern regions of Indonesia recorded 779 affected SPPGs, while the western part had 492 affected SPPGs.

Nanik explained that the suspension measures were mainly taken for SPPGs that had not yet registered for SLHS. "But they filed for registration after the suspension," she said.

Nanik emphasized that this temporary suspension is to ensure that the standards of nutrition services, especially in terms of hygiene and sanitation, are maintained. She expressed hopes that the free nutritious meal kitchen operations could gradually return to normal as the SPPGs sort out their licenses.
