Vedro Imanuel Girsang, Jakarta – Andrie Yunus' legal representatives from the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) have spoken out regarding the arrest of four active members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency of the Indonesian National Army (BAIS TNI). These individuals are suspected of being involved in the acid attack against the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS.
TAUD urges the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to investigate the Minister of Defense, the Commander of the TNI, and the head of BAIS TNI. "They must be investigated and held accountable," stated TAUD in their release on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
TAUD believes that the investigation of the TNI institution's top officials is crucial to uncover the reasons behind the attack on Andrie. The status of the perpetrators as military personnel raises the possibility of a chain of command and control from superiors that led to the act. Additionally, TAUD demands that the Commander of the TNI proves that the attack on Andrie Yunus was not part of a structured operation, either under orders, knowledge, or secret approval.
The Commander of the TNI Military Police, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that his office has received four suspected perpetrators of the attack on Andrie. "This morning, I have received individuals who are suspected of assaulting Andrie Yunus," said Yusri on Friday, March 18, 2026.
Yusri revealed that the four individuals are personnel from the BAIS TNI ground and naval forces, namely NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. Currently, the Military Police of the Jakarta Military Command (Pomdam Jaya) has been detaining them since Wednesday morning, March 18, 2026.
Member of the DPR Commission III, Safaruddin, stated that they will push for the case to be processed in civil court, not military court. "It will be pushed to civil court," said Safaruddin on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Two unidentified individuals splashed acid on Andrie Yunus on Salemba I-Talang Street, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night, March 12, 2026. The two perpetrators rode a motorcycle and approached Andrie from the opposite direction.
