Annisa Febiola, Jakarta – The Metro Jaya Police have addressed the discrepancies in the initials of the perpetrators behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), between the police version and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Metro Jaya Police revealed two initials, BHC and MAK, as the executors of the acid attack. Meanwhile, the TNI mentioned four of its soldiers allegedly involved, namely NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. All four are members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) from the air and navy forces.
The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, clarified that the suspect identified by the police as BHC is, in fact, the same individual the military referred to as BHW. "The BHC initials are the same as BHW, and then from PMJ (Metro Jaya Police), there is MAK," said Budi when contacted on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Budi emphasized that the police used scientific crime investigation methods in this case. He stated that the police findings are accountable. "If there are differences from the TNI, please ask them about their respective roles. What comes from PMJ can be accounted for," said Budi.
During the investigation, the police confiscated CCTV recordings from 86 locations. The Director of General Crime Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, said the team took recordings from points where the perpetrators traveled from departure to escape.
"We took recordings from 86 CCTV points," said Iman in a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Monday, March 16, 2026.
The police collected seven CCTV points from the electronic ticketing system, 27 points from the Jakarta Provincial Government, and eight points from the Transportation Agency. Additionally, investigators secured 44 CCTV points from residential areas, offices, and buildings along the route. "From the 86 CCTV points that we analyzed, we obtained 2,610 video recordings with a total duration of 10,320 minutes," said Iman.
The assault occurred on Thursday night, March 12, 2026, when two unidentified individuals poured acid on Andrie Yunus in the Talang Street area of Salemba, Central Jakarta. As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered chemical burns covering 24 percent of his body. A medical team of six doctors, spanning fields from ophthalmology and neurology to dermatology and orthopedics, is currently overseeing his recovery.
