M. Faiz Zaki, Jakarta – Indonesia produced 822,000 four-wheeled vehicles between January and September 2025, the Ministry of Industry reported.

Setia Diarta, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry at the ministry, said around 380,000 units were exported during this period.

"This figure almost matches the total production in 2024, which reached 1.19 million units," Setia said during the opening of Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2025 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD) in Tangerang Regency, Indonesia, on Friday, November 21, 2025.

"Exports of 388,000 units show that 45 percent of domestically made vehicles are absorbed by foreign markets, underscoring Indonesia's role as a key production base for global automotive manufacturers."

Production of two-wheeled vehicles also remained strong, reaching 5.25 million units in the first nine months of 2025, close to the 6.9 million units produced throughout 2024.

The automotive sector contributed 1.98 percent to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2025.

Four-wheeled vehicle production is supported by 39 manufacturers with a combined capacity of 2.39 million units per year, while two- and three-wheeled vehicles are produced by 82 manufacturers with an annual capacity of 11.2 million units.

To boost domestic sales and promote automotive innovation, Ministry of Industry collaborated with the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) for the GJAW 2025 exhibition, running from November 21-30.

The event features electric and hybrid-powered vehicles and aims to educate the public about new technologies.

"This exhibition is crucial in promoting domestic automotive products and driving growth in the national automotive industry, especially toward the end of 2025," Setia said.
