Nandito Putra, Jakarta – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) noted that Indonesia imported weapons worth US$65.04 million, or around Rp1.06 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp16,400 per U.S. dollar) from January to July 2025.
According to BPS data, the imports include three types of weapons from several countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United States, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, South Korea, and Japan.
Military weapons other than revolvers, pistols, and categories under HS 93019000 were recorded as the largest commodities. During this period, Indonesia imported 99,883 kilograms of weapons worth US$46.83 million, or Rp768.14 billion.
The details showed that the UAE was the primary supplier with 60,750 kilograms of weapons worth US$25.84 million, followed by the United States with 12,651 kilograms worth US$11.58 million, and Italy with 22,489 kilograms worth US$7.36 million.
Additionally, Indonesia was noted to import bombs, grenades, torpedoes, mines, missiles, and similar war ammunition along with their components (HS 93069010) weighing 25,325 kilograms. The value reached US$17.84 million, or Rp292.66 billion.
France was the largest supplier in this category with 2,910 kilograms worth US$12.66 million. The Czech Republic followed with 14,000 kilograms worth US$2.52 million, and South Korea with 6,604 kilograms worth US$1.67 million.
For other ammunition and projectiles, including bullets and bullet clots (HS 93069090), imports amounted to 16,423 kilograms worth US$358,677 or Rp5.88 billion. Most of this came from South Korea, with 16,010 kilograms worth US$103,500. The United States supplied 410 kilograms worth US$255,099, while Japan only contributed 2 kilograms worth US$73.
In total volume, Indonesia's weapon imports from January to July 2025 reached 141,632 kilograms worth US$65.04 million. In terms of volume, the UAE was recorded as the largest supplier with 60,750 kilograms, followed by South Korea with 22,614 kilograms, Italy with 22,489 kilograms, the Czech Republic with 14,000 kilograms, and the United States with 13,061 kilograms.
Meanwhile, in terms of import value, the UAE maintained the top position with US$25.84 million. France followed with US$12.66 million, the United States with US$11.84 million, Italy with US$7.36 million, and the Czech Republic with US$2.52 million.
