Antara, Jakarta – Indonesian National Police's Directorate of Cyber Crime (Bareskrim) has arrested the owner of a TikTok account accused of spreading provocative content that incited robbery at the homes of several members of the House of Representatives (DPR).

Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim Polri, said the suspect, identified as IS (39), a private sector employee, was taken into custody on Monday, September 1, 2025.

"The suspect created and uploaded video content through his TikTok account with the intent of inciting hatred against specific individuals and calling on the public to commit robbery," Himawan told reporters.

The videos, posted via the account @hs02775, urged looting at the homes of inactive DPR members Ahmad Sahroni and Eko Hendro Purnomo (also known as Eko Patrio), public figure Surya Utama (Uya Kuya), as well as DPR Speaker Puan Maharani. "The visual content clearly contained calls to commit robbery," Himawan said.

Police seized evidence including the suspect's ID card, a mobile phone, and control of the TikTok account, which had 2,281 followers. IS has been detained at the Bareskrim Polri detention center since September 2, 2025.

For his actions, IS faces multiple charges under Indonesia's Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law. He is accused of violating Article 45 paragraph (2) of Law No. 1 of 2024, carrying a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

He is also charged under Article 160 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), punishable by up to six years, and Article 161 paragraph (1) of the KUHP, which carries a four-year sentence.

The arrest followed a cyber patrol conducted by the Cyber Crime Directorate starting August 23, 2025. Authorities said they have worked with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block 592 accounts and pieces of provocative content linked to similar activities.
