Jamal Abdun Nashr, Jakarta – A total of 1,245 police personnel were deployed as the people of Pati are set to hold a simultaneous action of sending letters to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Pati, Central Java, on Monday, August 25, 2025.
They demand that the KPK designate the Pati Regent, Sudewo, as a suspect in the alleged corruption at the Directorate General of Railways.
"We ensure that security measures are carried out to the maximum so that the act of conveying aspirations, especially sending letters to the KPK, can proceed peacefully without any disruptions," said the Chief of the Pati City Police Resort, Commissioner Jaka Wahyudi, on August 25, 2025.
He urged the participants of the letter delivery action to maintain order. "Let's show that Pati can set an example of conveying aspirations, including through letters to the KPK, in a peaceful, dignified, and lawful manner," he added.
The simultaneous letter-sending action will begin at the post in front of the Pati Regent's Office. Subsequently, the participants will move to the post office via Dokter Wahidin Street.
Furthermore, the United Residents of Pati will also hold a protest at the KPK in Jakarta on September 2-3, 2025. They share the same demand, which is to urge Sudewo to be immediately designated as a suspect.
Previously, thousands of residents staged a protest at the Pati Regent's Office demanding Sudewo's impeachment. This protest was triggered by Sudewo's decision to increase the Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax by 250 percent.
