Dinda Shabrina, Jakarta – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education commenced the distribution of digital devices such as smart TVs and interactive whiteboards to schools across Indonesia. These facilities are designed not only as presentation tools, but also to build digital classrooms that allow teachers and students to access quality learning materials simultaneously.

The ministry targets 288,865 schools to receive digital devices this year, including Interactive Flat Panels (IFP), laptops, and media storage containing learning content. The first phase of distribution has been ongoing until August, but no information was given on the exact number of devices distributed in this first phase.

The Director-General of Early Childhood Education, Dasmen Gogot Suharwoto, explained that these devices are not just large-screen televisions. "Schools receiving IFP will also receive technical guidance to optimize the use of existing features," said Gogot, as quoted in a written statement on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

The mechanism is designed similar to interactive whiteboards. Teachers can display learning videos, access pre-installed digital content on an external hard disk, and write directly on the interactive screen. These devices also allow two-way interaction between teachers and students through learning applications.

Before distributing the devices, the ministry ensured the schools' infrastructure readiness, including electricity and internet connection. "We continue to confirm with recipient schools regarding their readiness. The goal is for the devices to be genuinely used, not just for display," said Gogot.

He added that this digitalization of learning will be the entry point for the formation of a digital classroom ecosystem. The government hopes that the new equipment will help reduce the quality gap in teaching between urban and underdeveloped schools.

"We will oversee this program together, to ensure that it truly hits the mark and has a real impact on the quality of education," said Gogot.
